Stud History

Ebony Park was established in 1984 after buying a pure breed female from Jan Gray’s well known Piggot Range Stud. That cow was Terangaville Ebony hence the Ebony Park Stud name. Focusing on thick moderate framed females with good milking, we weren’t deterred by the way the Simmentals were headed.

Unfortunately other Stud Breeders started producing big framed cattle which had the figures but did not produce in the paddock. Although in the early years of showing, our cattle appeared to be small compared to these extreme giants, they maintained their structural soundness and had good calving ease. Our persistence has paid off with more buyers turning towards moderate framed bulls with plenty of mobility, depth and thickness.

We are still focusing on Eye Set & Pigmentation, Body Length and of course good robust Feet & Legs. Introducing specially selected ‘AI’ Bulls from Denmark and Germany has continued to enhance all these features. Using Gorm and Eldorado on our Stud Females has given us tremendous compatibility. Many of the calves are polled and have tremendous growth rates.

Currently our stud consists of 30 breeding females giving us the ability to produce quality Cattle for both Stud and Commercial markets. Although showing cattle is kept to a minimum these days our cattle and property are always on display with all visitors welcome at any time.
